Pick a data set data on Connecticut’s Open Data Portal and interview someone at the originating agency about the background of the data.
Explain in your paper:
- Link to the data set
- Name and title and agency of the person you spoke to
- Explain all the stages it took from gathering the data to cleaning the data to getting them to make the data public
- Point out the nuances and limitations of the data
- Discuss the gaps in the data and what could be improved
- Analyze the agency’s website that was responsible for the data
- Detail the scope, quality, and accessibility of the rest of the agency’s data
- How journalists might have used the data on their site so far or might do so in the future
